The first game featured players from the borough of Manhattan versus players from Brooklyn. Severely undersized, the team from the borough of Kings quickly fell behind Manhattan, 40-26 at the half as good ball movement and a balanced attack trumped individual scoring accolades.
Paced by 6'6" senior Chuba Ohams's domination inside for the Manhattan team throughout the contest, Brooklyn never led and never came close. Brooklyn would lose to Manhattan by 29 points for the first time in recent memory.
Ohams from Wadleigh HS led Manhattan with 14 points with 5'10" senior Donoven Adams (Lab Museum United) adding 13 points. Lenny Kadisha (Wadleigh HS) and 5'11" rising senior Shyquan Gibbs (St. Anthony HS) contributed 8 points apiece towards the victory. 5'10" senior Jaquan McKennon (Thomas Jefferson) was high man for the guard heavy Brooklyn squad in defeat with a game-high 29 points followed by 5'10" senior Cheyenne Nettleton (South Shore HS) with 10 points.
Queens Bypasses the Bronx, 78-59
The second semifinal game of the evening also exemplified the virtues of a team effort as Queens sailed past the Bronx albeit a less lopsided affair than the first game.
The Queens team jumped out in from early and led 32-24 at the midway point of the game. The Bronx would make a push in the third quarter but only manage to close their deficit to 4 points with 6 minutes remaining in the quarter.
The fourth quarter would be the breakaway point for the Queens squad as they jumped out in from by 20 points and coasted to an easy win.
