Westchesters Oldest Rivalry
One of the oldest Westchester New York rivalries is set to kick off this Thursday January 3rd at 4:15pm when Mount Vernon Knights face New Rochelle Huguenots.
New Rochelle top scorer, 5-11 senior point guard Simeon Marsalis and teammates brought in the New Year with a championship win at the Fathers Counsel Holiday Tournament against Iona Prep 86-72. The Mount Vernon Knights senior 6-7 Forward Kevin Jones and teammates brought in the New Year with a crushing defeat when Rice Raiders of New York, NY defeated the Knights 75 - 51 recently in the Iolani Classic in Hawaii causing a slip in their NYCHoops ranking.

Although both teams have a long history of violent and unruly fans, this battle is about who's really the best in Westchester, NY. The Mount Vernon Knights have consistently proven themselves with rankings and top scouted players. Currently, New Rochelle is posting 7-1 overall record while Mt. Vernon record is 5 - 2.
With Mount Vernon recent slip in the rankings, does New Rochelle have a chance at being number one in Westchester this week?
