Wadleigh planted by 1 seed Lincoln

CONEY ISLAND, NY - Wadleigh had some difficulty traveling to Brooklyn to play top seeded Lincoln for a second round playoff game.

They arrived at the Coney Island school late and the game started a half hour later than it was supposed to. The game was close for a while in the first quarter. Lincoln held a 12-9 lead after a Wadleigh free throw. That was as close as it got as the Railsplitters dominated the rest of the way for an easy 98-54 victory.
Lincoln used a suffocating full court press on Wadleigh who had trouble getting the ball past half court. Lincoln dominated the boards, offense and defense. It seemed like they practically grabbed every missed shot, whether it was their own or Wadleigh's.
Lincoln standout junior guard Isaiah Whitehead played very well in the game, scoring a game high 24 points. He scored most of his points on jump shots, but he was able to get anywhere he wanted to in the contest. He also grabbed 10 rebounds and was active playing the passing lanes to help his team get a ton of turnovers.
Shaq McFarlane was Lincoln's next highest scorer with 15 points. The junior guard did most of his damage in the second half when Lincoln was basically riding the game out. Senior guard Trevonn Morton scored 11 points, including a couple of three pointers in the first quarter to set the tone for the game. Senior forward David Henry scored a game high 13 points for Wadleigh.
The game was still competitive midway through the second quarter when Wadleigh made two free throws to make it 28-17. Lincoln scored the next 16 points, 11 of them by Whitehead, to basically put most of the nails in the coffin. The score was 44-17 and everyone in the gym knew it was just a matter of running out the clock.
Lincoln did what the number one seed is supposed to do to a #16 seed in the second round of the playoffs. They will play in the quarterfinal round on Saturday against ENY Transit Tech in a game that will more than likely be a little more competitive. It only gets tougher for the #1 seed from here on in.
