The City Outshoot NJs ShoreShots

NEW YORK, NY - New Jersey may be "stronger than the storm" but on Saturday, the NJ Shoreshots were not stronger than The City.

Sparked by Eric Paschall's 38 point typhoon, The City swept over a sharpshooting ShoreShots, 65-56 during Hoop Group's Buzzer Beater Classic at Basketball City.
It appeared to be a cakewalk early in the game as The City jumped out in front 13-2 behind buckets from left-handed wing Mustafa Jones and penetrating baskets from Paschall. However, defensive lapses by The City along with effective screens opened up perimeter opportunities for ShoreShot's 6'2" Charles Russo (CBA/2015), 6'1" Jordan Forehand (St. Benedicts Prep/2014) and 5'11" Jack Fay (Manasquan HS /2014). In the blink of an eye, it was a close contest.
What was once a comfortable lead eventually turn into a 30-27 deficit at the half for The City.
Paschall probably had the many College Coaches in attendance salivating as they could look but not touch the Fordham commit who dropped 16 first half points. Apparently that wasn't enough, as his team was trailing, so the rising senior put The City on his back and quickly regained the lead with 11 minutes left to play.
The ShoreShots tried to keep pace but to no avail. With an array of shots, whether it was bogarding his way to the hole or knocking down buckets from the perimeter, Paschall torched the NJ team singlehandedly with an almost 'how dare they compete' attitude.
4:17 remained in regulation and The City was once again comfortably ahead, 54-44. Paschall's 22 point second half kept it that way until the game concluded.
Jones and rising sophomore point guard Wolfgang Novogratz also added 12 points and 7 points respectively to The City's total. Russo led the NJ ShoreShots with 17 points while Forehand contributed 14 points.
