Playing at the Hall of Fame Invitational in Springfield, Massachusetts, the 16u and 15u teams won the Gold championship bracket.
"[The] final score was 64-44 versus Rhode Island Hawks," coach Terrence "Munch" Williams said of the 16u's. "Double-figure scorers: Chris McCullough, Shavar Newkirk, Conrad Chambers and Quincy McKnight. We went 5-0 and remain No. 1 in the country."
Team Scan 16u is stacked with talent and their depth was one of the key factors to another championship. "We got great play from the supporting cast throughout the tournament. Cheick Diallo, Terry Larrier, Mike Silverthorn, Kevin Seymour and Eric Long were able to do a great job," coach Williams said. "The team was able to do a great job playing together and allowing the defensive end of the ball to win us a championship."
The 15u's, who were just named the best AAU team in the country, protected their status as No. 1 after fighting off the Riverside Hawks by two in the championship. The 15u's have created an impressive resume this summer winning the Gym Rat Challenge, King of Rock, Hall of Fame New England and the NJ Roadrunners Tournament. They still have a chance to win more and the plans on doing just that.
But, now it's time to break even. "Our focus now is the Peach Jam," coach Williams said. "At this point, we all have the same goal and focus as a unit. That is to win a few more championships and end the summer on a high note."
The 16u's will be at the Nike Peach Jam July 18-22, Vegas Fab 48 July 24-30, and finish off at the New Heights Classic on July 31st. The 15u finish up July at the Nike Peach State Tournament July 18-22, Vegas Fab 48 and the New Heights Classic.
Team Fisher, a program started by former Villanova star, Corey Fisher, also finished in the running. Team Fisher, coached by Casey Williams took the Silver bracket championship.
