Team SCAN 16U advances to EYBL semis

In front of a gym packed with colleges coaches, Team Scan 16-and-under team didn't disappoint and showed why they were considered by some, the No. 1 team in the country.

With under eight minutes to go, Team Scan relinquished their lead to Houston Hoops and saw themselves trailing 48-47 with the clock ticking down.
Soon after, Chris McCullough, the 6-9 force, who attracted coaches from Louisville, Syracuse, Indiana and Kentucky, had a nice and-one layup and continued to dominate on the low block. Shavar Newkirk commanded the offense and ultimately ran the team to victory. "Shavar Newkirk is the No. 1 point guard in New York," coach Terrence "Munch" Williams said. "I keep telling people, it seems like they're not listening."
With great team defense, Team Scan finished off Houston Hoops with a 22-6 run to end the game with a 69-54 win. Team Scan had a balanced attack with Newkirk, McCullough and surprisingly Cheick Diallo, a 2015 big man from Our Savior New American. "He's had a great tournament so far," coach Williams said. "Cheick is a stud."
With the win, Team Scan 16u's are still undefeated at 3-0 and advanced to the semifinal round of the EYBL Peach Jam. Team Scan will play the Southern Stampede in the semifinals Saturday at 8:45 PM. The plan for Team Scan to break even is still in effect.
