This past Tuesday, Team Frenji had a guest speaker, St. John's assistant Coach Fred Quartlebaum. Coach Q spoke with the younger players about the importance of building a good basketball foundation.
While at the open practice NYCHoops learned that in June team Frenji plans to host an All-Star event, the Frankie Williams Charity. For over twenty years, Frankie Williams tirelessly coached and mentored the youth before his passing.
In 1998, he joined forces with Frenji and trained players from 3rd grade through college. His main goal was to turn student athletes into Division 1 prospects in basketball and football as well as respected citizens of the community. The program also provides educational services with certified educators that assist students of the game in mastering the SAT, PSAT, and ACT.
Team members of Frenji to play in this charity event are Tony Taylor, Kevin Jones, Mookie Jones, Malcolm Pope JR., Melvin Calhoun, Akeem Bennett, Kenny Horton, BJ Monterio, Jerome Belin, Allan Chaney, Derrick Dennis, Sean Kilpatrick, and, and Rashad James.
