South Shore romps; Boys Girls drop 2nd
BROOKYLN, NY - Vengeance has been on the minds of Brooklyn PSAL AA teams as the Boys & Girls Kangaroos were forced to absorb their second loss in a row against a top ten team - this time at the hands of the South Shore Vikings. Trailing throughout the entire game, the defending PSAL champions would get routed again, 73-50.

"I don't know what to say," a despondent Wesley Myers uttered. The senior leader of the Roos endured the team's first loss last Saturday against Thomas Jefferson and now again on Thursday. "I think we've lost our focus," he said.
The Vikings jumped out in front early by defensively and aggressively tag teaming which ever player brought the ball up court, especially if it was Myers. "We weren't going to let a guy with his resume' beat us," said South Shore head coach Mike Beckles.
In the first quarter, although the Vikings pressed, Boys & Girls remained competitive as Myers, Marvin Prochet and Jamie Killings got open to score. Junior guard Doudmy St Hilaire (7 points) hit a nice perimeter shot for the Vikings but heading into the second quarter, the Roos were only down by a bucket.
The game remained close until the latter part of the quarter when 6'5" David Tait (10 points) entered the game and got things poppin'. Suddenly with 1:47 left in the half, the Vikings increased their advantage to 10 points as the senior initiated a 6-0 run along with Devyn Wilson.
Down 36-26 starting the second half, Boys High would close the game midway through the third quarter as their big man Larry Moore along with Myers came alive. The Kangaroos would cut the lead down to 4 points at the 5:57 mark but UConn-bound PG Terrence Samuel would go into attack mode and single-handedly push the Viking lead back to 9.
South Shore's unrelenting press would soon begin to get under the skin and both teams became testy. Double-techs ensued but the Vikings still remained steadfastly in Boys & Girls grill. An emphatic dunk by Tait would send South Shore into the final quarter with a comfortable 18 point lead and all the momentum.
Courtney Solomon would kick the fourth quarter off with a trey but other than that it was all South Shore. With 2:28 left to play and a 23 point lead, Coach Beckles subbed out his starters and let his bench feast on what was left.
"[Boys & Girls] knocked us out the playoffs last year so we had to come at them hard," said Tait after the game. "This was payback and then some."
Samuel led all scorers with 26 points with Shamiek Sheppard adding 16 points. Myers led Boys & Girls with 17 points; Prochet contributed 8 points.
