Shumperts Perfect Score Wins Dunk Contest

With a 360-degree spin directly under the basket, Iman Shumpert sent his fellow Jordan Brand All-Americans off their seats, and a trophy into the arms of the 6'4" guard. The Georgia Tech-bound guard's dunk in the championship round of the Boost Mobile JamFest Slam Dunk Competition on Thursday night drew a perfect score of 40 from the judges, which included rappers Jadakiss and Styles P.

Shumpert joined fellow All-Americans B.J. Mullens, Brandon Jennings, Devin Ebanks and Drew Gordon in the dunk competition on Thursday evening held on the campus of Long Island University in Brooklyn, NY.

Mullens' between the legs dunk, Gordon's double pump dunk and Shumpert's reverse dunk from one side of the rim to the other sent the seniors on to the final round.

The Ohio State-bound Mullens kicked off the championship round by throwing the ball off the backboard, spinning in mid-air and throwing the ball through the basket with one hand, which drew a score of 36.

Shumpert followed up with his jaw-dropping dunk, which gave him a perfect score and virtually locked up the trophy for Georgia Tech coach Paul Hewitt's future star. Drew Gordon followed up with trying to impersonate Dwight Howard's "superman" dunk but took off from just inside the free throw line, giving him a score of 26.

Shumpert indicated that he didn't think up his dunks until warming up 15 minutes before the contest began, and had another dunk left in his arsenal even after completing his victory. "I thought there were going to be three round, so I had planned to dunk over Tyreke (Evans) as a finale in the final round," said Shumpert as he added "I missed my dunks in the McDonald's (All American dunk contest), so I had to redeem myself."

Shumpert and the other Jordan Brand All-American's will be participating on the National All-Star on Saturday at Madison Square Garden. The National game is the finale of a triple header that is preceded by a International All-Star Game and Regional All-Star Game.
