Hoopland has become a place where kids could not only escape the tough Brooklyn streets to play the game of basketball but earn scholarships to further their education. This place was not only a gym it was a life educational center where players were gives the tools they needed to succeed in life.
The Brooklyn athletic facility has been home to many area players says founder Andre Ambose. "The AAU team United Brooklyn is based out of Hoopland. The owner has plans for the space and wants to make more money changing the building into storage facility. Right now, there are no recreation centers or a place for kids to go in the area. There is not much to do in this neighborhood or a place where people can go. I open the doors to the basketball community. I fashion it to help kids; every kid from Brooklyn so they can come here to work out. The doors are open to everyone," said Ambrose.
The laundry list of players that walked through the 4400 Glenwood Road facility to workout would include two former NBA players Lloyd Daniels, Junie Sanders, as well as players including Erving Walker, Lance Stephenson, and Devin Ebanks, to name a few.
To show your support to keep help keep Hoopland's doors open.
