Royals Seek Crown in Florida

The Christ the King Royals will represent New York in the 38th annual State Farm City of Palms Classic which gets underway on Friday afternoon at Bishop Verot High School (Fort Myers, FL).
The tournament will host 16 teams, playing 35 games and will feature such notables as Shabazz Muhammad, Austin Rivers, Angel Rodriguez and Xavier Johnson
Participating Teams: Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas, Nev.), Christ School (Arden, N.C.), Christ the King (Middle Village, N.Y.), Dr. Krop (Miami, Fla.), Dwyer (Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.), Fort Myers (Fla.), Mater Dei (Santa Ana, Calif.), Melrose (Memphis, Tenn.), Milton (Ga.), Norfolk Christian (Norfolk, Va.), North Port (Fla.), Orlando Christian Prep (Orlando, Fla.), Riverside Academy (Reserve, La.), St. Patrick (Elizabeth, N.J.), Whitney Young (Chicago, Ill.), Winter Park (Fla.)
The NYCHoops.net #2 ranked Royals however will come armed with arguably two of the best guards in the city, Omar Calhoun and T.J. Curry. First up for CTK is the Christ School, who they play on Saturday.
California, New Jersey and New York have won nine of the last 10 tournament championships with last year chip won by the now defunct Paterson Catholic (NJ).
