After six days, the dust cleared in the old Church basement of Our Lady of Mercy and only two teams would remain. The poised and talented Rodney Abrams team would cancel the sharp shooters of the NY Blaze and convincingly win, 70-52.
Rodney Abrams would easily dominate the top of the first quarter. With two minutes remaining, Mike Bourke delivered a nice pass to James Coleman increasing Abrams score 16-4. NY Blaze called for a timeout to refocus and on the return would score back-to-back baskets. The momentum swing would be brief as Toney Dobbinson (15pts) hit a three-pointer followed by a nice assist from Tremaine Fraiser (12pts) to Dobbinson for the layup. Abrams held onto their lead by the close of the opening quarter, 18-11.
NY Blaze tried to again close the gap in the second quarter but Mt. Vernon's Jarrel Marshall and Jordan Washington (12pts) scored back-to back baskets to keep Abrams ahead by nine. With a minute left in the half, Fraiser hit a three-pointer but Washington and recent St. John's commit Felix Balamou (16 points) countered keeping Abrams ahead, 37-30 at the half.
Abrams kept NY Blaze at bay during most of the third quarter but Fraiser and Brian Daniel closed out strong for the NY Blaze cutting their deficit to six to start the fourth quarter. Blaze fought valiantly but the uber-talented Rodney Abrams squad began to pile on the points, soon pushing their lead to twelve. To further punctuate their dominance Abram ended the game on an 8-0 run.
