Pretlow tapped as new Railsplitters Head Coach

On July 1st, legendary Abraham Lincoln HS Head Coach Dwayne "Tiny" Morton will officially assume his new role as an assistant coach at Seton Hall University. On Monday June 16th, Kenny Pretlow learned that he was chosen to take over as the Lincoln Railsplitters new head coach.
Morton said the decision to choose his longtime assistant coach was easy. "Twelve years by my side, well known in the basketball circles [and a] proven high school head coach."

Pretlow is taking over the reins from Coach Morton who was in his 19th season. A former Lincoln player, Morton won eight PSAL city championships coaching the Railsplitters and three state Federation titles as the team's head coach.
With a resume like that, one would think that the pressure to overachieve is overwhelming but Pretlow disagrees saying, "I really don't feel any pressure. I know I have big shoes to step into but I have experience running a program and learned a lot from Tiny."
Coach Pretlow may have a point. In addition to being an assistant coach alongside Morton for over a decade, he was a JV coach at Bishop Loughlin for 12 years, at Brooklyn Law & Tech for six years and with the Riverside AAU program for 15 years.
Pretlow said that he intends to keep Lincoln's winning tradition intact. He says he plans to keep to the strategy of playing an aggressive and competitive schedule as well as keeping the same assistant coaching staff in place. He does however plan to add his own unique imprint. "We will retain a lot of the blueprint and add some new twists," said Pretlow citing "more fastbreaks" as an example.
Taking over a storied and highly successful varsity boy's high school basketball program like the Abraham Lincoln Railsplitters will be no small feat but Coach Pretlow seems to have his feet firmly rooted in reality and the comfort that help is just a phone call away. "Hopefully I won't make too many mistakes and if I do, I'm sure Tiny will call me."
