Shooting Guard
Boys and Girls High
This past summer saw the shakeup of Jack Alesi's Xaverian basketball team. One of the players included in the shuffle was 6-foot-2 guard Brandon Romain. As a junior last season, Romain was a steady offensive contributor for the Clippers averaging close to 13 points and three rebounds a game, including big games against UCLA bound, Jrue Holiday of Campbell Hall (CA) and Crenshaw High (CA).
While last seasons numbers were a step down from his sophomore year where he averaged over 13 points, five rebounds and one assists a game, Romain still proved that he was one of the best guards in the Catholic League.
Once the season gets going in the next couple weeks, Romain will be donning a new jersey as he joins former Clipper teammate, Patrick Jackson at Boys and Girls in Brooklyn. The goal for the Kangaroos is simple, get back to Madison Square Garden and take home the PSAL crown.
Strengths:
Romain is left handed so he'll have a little advantage over other guys because of that. He gets out in transition pretty well and can either keep going to the basket of pull up for the mid range jumper. From 18 feet down he's almost an automatic to score and uses his quickness at all times.
Weaknesses:
Romain needs to put on some more weight. The last time we had a chance to see him was at the ATM Live Classic at he still looked rail thin. If he can gain some more weight that will only up his potential as a player. Also needs to work on expanding his range. Right now he might be money from two point range, but once he steps out to the three point arc, things become a little shakey.
