Playaz win Shootout with United Brooklyn

Mike Rosario opens up another win for the Playaz Club over United Brooklyn 82-69 in the Quarterfinals of the iS8/Nike playoffs. Rosario scored 31 points and shot more than 70 percent from 3-point land.
United Brooklyn simply couldn't find their rhythm. Darryl "Truck" Bryant was late to the game which could explain United's slow start, and sat for a long period of time late in the fourth. They fought hard, but were off target at the rim, and couldn't find an answer for Rosario the McDonalds All-American, 6'2 guard, headed to Rutgers.

Southern CT bound Chris Harris scored a long two pointer to open the game up. Jiovanny Fontan, who had 22 points for the Playaz, answered back quickly, with a three, and United wouldn't score till after five minutes left in the first quarter. After calling a time United Brooklyn fought back. Harris hit a three pointer at the buzzer to end the first quarter with the Playaz Club ahead 21-13.
Patrick Jackson was the leader for United with 26 points. He opened the second quarter with a long three, but it was answered back with a three by Madut Bol for the Playaz. United Brooklyn made their best run in the beginning of the second quarter. A fast break dunk for Bryant off of a steal brought the lead down to seven.
But that run didn't last long. The guards for the Playaz Club began to take control. Alberto Estwick got to lane and also hit a three. Fontan kept getting to the lane off of high screen plays. Rosario then hit two three pointers, one with less than 10 seconds to end the half 46-27.
United Brooklyn would make another run in to start off the third quarter. Jackson opened the quarter again with a three. He seems to like starting off quarters pulling up from deep. Jackson then received another assist from Bryant on a fast break. Truck would follow with a three pointer to make it an eight point game.
The Playaz Club didn't score for the almost three minutes after the half, but they would have no trouble with that for the rest of the game. Rosario finally hit a three pointer mid-quarter. Jackson answered it with a three ball of his own, but Rosario answered with three more 3-pointers for that quarter.
United put up a valiant effort to come back but couldn't get over the hump. Their jump shots no longer fell, and the Playaz had built insurmountable momentum. United Brooklyn's only option was to play the fouling game to force the Playaz to beat them at the foul line but the Playaz won that game as well.
The Playaz Club will face the NYCHoops #4 ranked Panthers Juniors on Saturday May 17 at 12:30pm in the Semifinal game which will be webcasted by HSBnetwork.TV
