One NYer selected for FIBA 16U Chip

After trying out over 30 players, on Tuesday afternoon, USA Basketball revealed the 12 players selected to be on the 2013 Under-16 team that will participate in the FIBA Americas U16 Championships in Maldonado, Uruguay next week. One of those players is from New York.

Thomas Bryant from Bishop Kearney HS in Rochester is that New Yorker. "My guy made Team USA 16 and under team," said an elated Oz Cross, who coaches the junior during the spring/summer on Team Scan. "I'm very proud of him. He really wanted to make the team and he put in a lot of work."
The selection is huge for Bryant because the Under-16 tournament in Venezuela also serves as the qualifying tournament for next season's Under-17 World Championships.
The U.S. leaves on Friday June 7 for the five-day event. Preliminary rounds run from June 11-13, followed by the semifinals and finals on June 14 and 15.
Other players selected for the 16U team include:
Terrance Ferguson (Prime Prep Academy / Flower Mound, Texas)
Daniel Giddens (Wheeler H.S. / Mableton, Ga.)
Harry Giles (Wesleyan Christian Academy / Winston-Salem, N.C.)
Josh Jackson (Consortium College Prep / Southfield, Mich.)
