NYC Hoops Top 10 Teams as of 12/11
NYCHoops.net (powered by Rivals.com) ranks the top 10 varsity basketball teams in the New York City area based on wins & loses (league & non-league games) taking into account, how many games were played and competitive level of teams played.

Relative weight, in order, is given to wins or losses against nationally ranked out of state teams, other teams in The NYC Hoops Top 10 and against the 5 "bubbling under" teams. Less weight is given to teams that are not ranked.
1. Lincoln High School, Brooklyn, NY (3 - 0)
Playing without Lance Stephenson (injured ankle), the Brooklyn PSAL School topped St. Xavier in Louisville over the weekend. If Stephenson continues to sit and nurse his ankle, the Railsplitters will depend on sophomore guard Darwin "Buddha" Ellis and senior forwards Justin Greene and James Padgett in the frontcourt.

2. Rice High School, Manhattan, NY (2 - 0)
The Raiders toppled All Hallows and perennial Maryland-power Towson Catholic in their first two games of the season. Drexel-bound sharp shooter Chris Fouch and senior back court-mate Kemba Walker played well for coach Maurice Hicks' squad. Rankings: Unchanged from last week.
3. St. Raymond High School, Bronx, NY (4 - 0)
Led by "the big three" of West Virginia-commit Darryl Bryant, junior guard Omari Lawrence, and junior forward Kevin Parrom, the Bronx school has jumped out to a 4-0 start, with their big wins coming on back-to-back night this past weekend. Coach Oliver Antigua's team beat Archbishop Carroll in Washington D.C. on Saturday and followed that up on Sunday against Thomas Jefferson in the PSAL-CHSAA Challenge. The big three combined for 73 of their team's 87 points in the win over the PSAL school.

4. Mt. Vernon High School, Mount Vernon, NY (2 - 0)
Opened season with blowout victory over fellow Section 1 school, Gorton, by a final score of 110-50. Junior forward Sherrod Wright scored 21 for the Knights, who will head to Hawaii before Christmas.
Rankings: Unchanged from last week.
5. Holy Cross High School, Flushing, NY (2 - 0)
Opened season with back-to-back wins in back-to-back Knights, first against Cardinal Hayes and then against Boys & Girls on Saturday. Virginia-bound forward Sylven Landesberg led all scorers with 29 points and grabbed 20 rebounds in the 2OT win over Boys & Girls. Uncommitted senior forward Tim Beinert also had a big game for the Knights.

6. Christ the King High School, Middle Village, NY (1 - 0)
The Queens CHSAA school toppled an unranked Wadleigh in their season opener on Saturday afternoon. The Royals were led by 5'6" Florida-bound guard Erving Walker, who scored 20 points and dished out 8 assists in the 71-49 victory over the PSAL school. A much-improved Ryan Pearson, heading to George Mason next fall, also contributed for coach Bob Oliva's team.

7. Boys & Girls High School, Brooklyn, NY (3 - 1)
In their fourth game of the season, the Brooklyn school lost a close game in double overtime to Holy Cross of the CHSAA. The Kangaroos struggled from the free throw line, missing 17 shots in the game from the charity stripe. Rutgers-bound senior forward Patrick Jackson had an off shooting night on Saturday vs. Holy Cross.

8. Bishop Loughlin High School, Brooklyn, NY (1 - 0)
The Brooklyn squad opened the season with a blowout victory over St. Edmund's. Blue-chip sophomore forward Jayvaughn Pinkston will play Long Island-power St. Dominic's this week.

9. Thomas Jefferson High School, Brooklyn, NY (2 - 2)
The Orange Wave has lost two games against tough opponents early in the season. Jefferson was beaten at home by Lincoln and then lost on Sunday to St. Raymond's. Highly recruited junior shooting guard Keith Spellman had an inconsistent shooting performance on Sunday for the Brooklyn team.

10. John F. Kennedy High School, Bronx, NY (4 - 0)
Head coach Johnny Mathis' squad has played six games already in the early stages in the season, and has won all of them. The public school has beaten fellow top PSAL teams such as Wings Academy and Wadleigh, and has also toppled All Hallows of the CHSAA.
