Team Scan rep'd NYC in both 15U and 16U divisions and put the nation on notice winning both chips. On the other end of the strip 17U New Heights team would make their second televised final tournament game.
In the Las Vegas' Fab 48, the New York teams finished 17U Invitational Pools 3-0 NY Rens, 1-2 NY Panthers, 16U Invitational Pools 3-0 Team Scan, 1-2 Frenji 16U, 15U 3-0 Team Scan 15U, and 1-2 Riverside Church 15U.
On Sunday, both 17U teams would land in the Elite 8 round with NY Panthers taking a six point loss to Arkansas Hawks. The 17U NY Rens would also fall out the Champion bracket with a seven point loss to Team Loaded.
The younger NY teams would play their hearts out, bringing home not one but two chips. Team Scan's coach Terrence "Munch" Williams was elated saying, "We are extremely proud of both teams and the work they've put in this year. For both teams to showcase their talents on the national stage and win means a lot to our program and more importantly New York Basketball."
When the dust cleared in the 16U Championship bracket, only two teams would remain. The top ranked team's Team Scan and Team Thad squared off in a highly anticipated match-up. Team Thad captured an eight point lead by the end of the half. With two minutes remaining in the game the score would be knotted at 68. Team Scan would go on a 6-2 run and take the crown, 74-71. Scan's Shavar Newkirk finished with 16 points, teammate Chris McCullough contributed 14points.
Team Scan's 15U squad had a tough battle in a match-up that came down to the wire. The young freshmen team of Devonte Green, Tremont Waters, Unique Mclean, Chris Atkinson, Dondre Rhoden, Chance Ellis and Austrian Robinson finished off the Minnesota Cyclones by a point 69-68 taking home the win.
