One thing for sure is that the Ben Gordon All-Stars (a/k/a the Mount Vernon Knights) won’t bow down no matter how stacked the deck is against them. For two quarters, the All-Stars put up a fight and at times led a loaded NEBB squad. Noah Morgan ‘17 and Greg Calixte ‘17 proved why both are Division I commits and rising senior Jason Douglas-Stanley ‘18 as they kept the Mount Vernon crew in the hunt

Tremont Waters ‘17 and Nick Richards ‘17 proved to be formidable as Waters served up multiple alley-opps to his Kentucky bound teammate but Ben Gordon kept pace. The tied would change for the undersized underdog however when Calixte got into foul trouble which significantly softened the underbelly of its front court.

Down by 10 to begin the fourth quarter, Morgan and Eric Monroe ’17 shaved the Ben Gordon All-Stars deficit to 5 points with 4:30 left to play but Richards kept them at bay en route to a seven-point win.

Richards led NEBB with 23 points with Waters adding 16 points. Douglas-Stanley paced the Ben Gordon All-Stars with 27 points with Morgan contributing 19 points

Above & Beyond fall below NEBB, 80-67

The Northeast Basketball Club would affect a clean sweep as they took on a feisty Above & Beyond. The tandem of Waters and Richards continued where they left off from their first game but push back from offensive powerhouse Jon Evans (Camden (NJ)’18) and Aziz Parker (Medford Tech (NJ) ’17) denied NEBB a massive lead.

Only down by six points at the half, Above & Beyond closed the gap with help from Sammy Majekdunmi (Curtis ’17). A buzzer beating trey by Evans and NEBB was suddenly down 53-50 at the end of the thirds quarter.

In response, Richards raised his defensive game and swatted multiple Above & Beyond shots while E.J. Anosike (St. Thomas More Academy (NJ) ’17) and Waters upped their offensive attack. The NE B’ball Club soon surged ahead and eventually downed Above & Beyond by 13 points.

Richard notched 23 points for NEBB with Waters scoring 16 points. Evans was the high man for Above & Beyond with 17 points.
