New Heights 17u ended the summer on a good note winning the Adidas Super 64 in Vegas. New Heights was led by tournament MVP Jordan Washington, who helped them oust the Milwaukee Rebels in the championship game 82-75, completing a magical 9-0 run.
Nathan Eckwu, who had the duty of holding Kevon Looney silent, finished the game with 10 points, 13 rebounds and five blocks. 6'2" Mike Bourke (Hun School/2014) chipped in five three pointers for Heights, while Paul Jorgensen finished with 17 points.
Team Scan was back to its winning ways led by Rivals top-50 wing Terry Larrier. Scan squeaked passed the competition and left Kansas City on top after a 53-51 win over Yobo, a Kansas City based AAU team led by Iowa State commit Clayton Custer.
Larrier, Cheick Diallo and Syracuse-bound Chris McCullough all finished with double-digit scoring, while Joel Villa averaged a team high seven assists per game during the tournament.
Scan lost only once during the Kansas City Hardwood Classic to an Illinois Wolves team by two. New Heights finished off the AAU period with a nine game run that put them over the top in Vegas.
New York was well represented in the Midwest and West Coast during the final evaluation period.
