Mt. Vernon Rebounds from Loss

Tuesday was the last time this season the Mount Vernon Knights and the White Plains Tigers would meet. This past week both teams received a loss.
The Knights had just returned home from a defeat by Linden, in NJ. The Tigers, loss in a devastating triple overtime to the New Rochelle. However, on this night the Knights would not except defeat and outscored the Tigers 80-66.

The first quarter was about teamwork with the Tigers out scoring the Knights, but this lead quickly changed by the second quarter with the Knights gaining 23-point lead over the Tigers as their cohesiveness came undone.
By the third quarter, the Knights were ahead 46-27 as White Plains continued to struggle. Sean Kilpatrick, who recently received an offer from Seton Hall, provided rays of hope for the Tigers with consistent scoring while Ra'Shad James was able to fire up the crowd with a monster two-handed dunk. Sherrod Wright, however, countered for Mt. Vernon with his athletic and aggressive playing style.
The Knights were energized started the fourth quarter with scoring from West Virginia-bound Kevin Jones however, the Tigers were able to gain points on the Knights because due to foul trouble.
Mount Vernon continued to increase their lead on the White Plains punctuated by Sherrod Wright who jumped up over the heads of the Tigers to bring down a slam-dunk.
In the transition down the court, Ra'Shad James stripped the ball from the Knights to score for the Tigers. Although White Plains made a valiant effort in the fourth quarter but just could not gain on the Knights.
With 1:21 seconds left in the game Jordan Lessane scored a three-pointer for Mt. Vernon that took the game out of reach for the Tigers.
Key scorers for the Knights were Jones 30 points, 11 rebounds, 7 blocked shots, Wright with 14 points, and Jordan Lessane 13. Kilpatrick had 27 points and 7 assists for White Plains followed by James with 20 points.
