Mt. Vernon Out Class Lincoln

On Tuesday, the Mount Vernon Knights came out to play a game but ended up giving an evening tutorial on basketball to the Lincoln Lancers from Yonkers, NY.
The Knights came to the court game ready and served up a classic high end finish that that depleted the Lancers, beating them easily by the score of 73-46

The first quarter, was full of fouls for the Lancers bringing the Knights to the free throw line multiple times. With clock running down Wright, slams down a monster two-hand dunk. Brennan Savage and Eric Slater did however make a go at it offensively for Lincoln ending quarter only behind 16 - 11.
The second quarter mimicked the first except for the fact that they were now behind 40 – 21. This was due to a porous Lincoln defense against Mt. Vernon's powerful offense. By the third quarter, the writing was on the wall for the Lancers who continued to pursue the Knights who lead closing out the third 58 - 28.
In the fourth, Coach Bob Cimmino decided to take out all of his starters from the game giving backup players minutes. This gave way to a miserable end of the fourth for the Lancers, closing out this unbalanced match in Yonkers leaving the frail Lancers behind.
The high scorers was West Virginia bound Kevin Jones with 26 points and Sherrod Wright contributing 7 points. The Lancers best scorer of the night Eric Slater with 20 points and Brennan Savage adding 11 points.
