The Jets tried to keep pace with Scanlan but the Crusaders were simply too big and too fast and won, 84-78
In the warm-up quarter both teams attempted to impose its will on the other and with 2:58 remaining the score was tied. Towards the end of the first quarter, Scanlon's bigness began to take over as 6'8" Jonathan Nwankwo pounded his way inside to put the Crusaders ahead by three as the quarter ended.
At the top of the second quarter, Brooklyn Law's porous defense allowed for the Crusaders to extend its lead to 7 points. A jumper by Joe Charles put Scanlon ahead 24-15 with five minutes left until halftime. Scanlan point guard George Pena did a good job penetrating the Jets' defense utilizing his speed and setting up teammates.
Matt Scott began to register points on the board for the Jets but because of their lax defense, they would only manage to exchange baskets with Scanlan. The Crusader's lead grew to 14 points before Juan Ramos scored back-to-back. With 25 second left, Scanlan's advantage was 10 points and Brooklyn Law would remain behind, 42-33 to start the third.
Scanlan's size and speed began to reap additional benefits as Nwankwo controlled the paint and Pena and provided offense with senior SF Tremaine Carter adding momentum with a spectacular dunk. Ahead by 14 at the top of the fourth, with 7:21 left to play, the Crusaders had amassed a 63-45 lead.
In the final moments, Brooklyn Laws ramped up their defense with a full court press. Scott also stepped up his offensive attack and with 2:36, the Jets were back to within ten but a coast-to-coast layup by Pena and another power dunk by Carter down the stretch took the air from underneath of the Jets wings even after a last minute trey by Scott would cut Scanlan lead to 6 before the final buzzer sounded.
Pena led the way for Scanlan with 23 points followed by Carter with 12 points. Nwankwo added 7 points, 11 rebounds and 2 blocks. Scott scored a game high 32 points for Brooklyn Law & Tech with Ramos adding 29 points.
