Larry Major Classic Recaps
BROOKLYN, NY - The 7th Annual Larry "Maje" Major Classic took place on Saturday at Paul Robeson HS.

Five out-of-league games took place as squads fine tune before their regular season in-league games take place later this week.
Mott Haven stumps Monsignor Scanlon, 60-46
Without the services of 6'9" John Nwanku, Scanlon played minus one of their twin towers. Justin Hill, Terrell Duck and 2nd tower 6'8" Emmanuel Chukwu filled the void, keeping Scanlon in the hunt. Senior guard, Ingram Cordozz and Lee Melendez powered Mott Haven to a tie game at the half as well as at the end of the third quarter. Mott Haven edged out Scanlon as they out rebounded them and scored multiple transition points.
Cordozz earned the MVP, scoring a team high 24 points with Melendez adding 12 points. Duck led Scanlon with 17 points
Bayside edges out Eagle Academy, 61-59
Eagle Academy for Boys took an early lead against Bayside until Austin Williams knotted the game at 11 points with a 3-ball late in the first quarter. Senior PG Kyle Hackett regained the lead for Eagle midway through the second quarter. Down by 5 points, a dunk by Jamal Roseburgh would spark the Commodores pull ahead 32-23 at the half.
In the third quarter, Eagle Academy made a run and took a two point lead into the fourth quarter as junior sharpshooter Sandy Beras got hot from the perimeter. A communication snafu would also cause Williams to foul out prematurely, exacerbating the situation. However, a solid performance down the stretch by Brandon King would salvage a two point win for Bayside.
King won MVP honors scoring 12 points while PG Cantrell Barker scored a team high 14 points. Beras was high man for Eagle Academy with 18 points with Hackett contributing 13 points.
Paul Robeson K.O. Fighting Vee Bees, 68-45
The host team would close the show versus the Martin Van Buren Vee Bees. The Robeson Eagles got off to a 5-0 run and kept on running right through Van Buren. Hard to guard Denzel Wilson and Tyree Harvey sifted through the Vee Bess defense causing havoc. Robeson's swarming defense resulted in eight first half turnovers, leaving Van Buren down 34-17 at the half.
Sporadic offense left Van Buren in quicksand en route to a 23 point loss.
Harvey earned MVP honors with 17 points. Wilson added 16 points. Brian Agard led Martin Van Buren with 12 points.
ENY Transit Tech would improve their record to 2-0 as they topped Wadleigh, 60-46.
The High of Construction would take down the High School of Telecommunications, 65-56.
