Juniors Rule Frankie Williams Classic

On Thursday, Frenji Sports held their 3rd Annual Frankie Williams Charity Classic game at Theodore D. Young Community Center in Westchester, NY.
The event was loaded with top senior and juniors from the metro area but it would be the junior stars that would outperform the seniors.

Although Fordham-bound Jeffrey Short took home the MVP with 28 points for the Blue team, Boys and Girls High School's Mike Taylor, a junior, would earn the Sportsmanship award with a game high 33 points for the white team. The Blue team took home the win against the White team in this physical match-up 124-112.
The game would be played in half's. The Blue team led throughout the first half with Jeffery Short dominating in game play by scoring or feeding off to Rice HS junior, Jermaine Sanders for two, holding onto their lead 23-20, at the ten minute mark. White team's Fordham-bound Brandon Frazier would deliver a one hand jam bringing the score up by two for his team. Blue team's UConn-bound junior, Maurice Harkless (26pts) put on a show with a strong performance snatching down rebounds and shooting jumpers.
Taylor would score inside and out making key plays and hitting NBA range jumpers. The team work of Taylor and Villanova-bound Achraf Yacoubou (20pts.), another junior, would keep the white team in the game.
By the three minute mark, Harkless would tip in a miss shot from Rutgers's-bound Mike Poole increasing the blue team's score 46-38. After the White team turned over the ball Harkless would drive down the court for a one hand jam. Blue teammate Villanova-bound Jayvaughn Pinkston would follow with a jumper. Taylor would hit another three-pointer off the corner but it would be the White team's big man Canisius College-bound Chris Manhertz who would wow the crowd contesting both Pinkston and Devon Collier's rebounding shot attempts as the half close out, Blue team 54-48. Blue team's Jeffery Short would end the first half with 18 points, and Sanders added 11 points. At the half, Yacoubou led the White team with 18 points while Taylor with added 15 points.
In the second half, the late arrival of White team's Rice HS Kadeem Jack and Richmond-bound Derrick Williams would add a boost of fire power to help close in on the Blue team's lead. But it would be the talented juniors Taylor and Harkless that would dominate for both of their teams. At the five minute mark Taylor hits a three-pointer keeping the White team in the game reaching NBA numbers but the Blue team still remained up 109-100. As the half came to a close, Collier scored back-to-back points with a two hand jam and a jumper closing out the half for win.
