Juice Defeats Rangers at iS8

Despite coming with one of the best guards in the state of Georgia, the Rangers could not handle the weapons that Coach Dwayne Morton and the Juice All Stars came to iS8 with.

The Brooklyn-based squad led the whole way and won their regular season match with the Queens-based squad 85-74.

Manny Atkins, a highly recruited guard from Tucker (GA), came in to play with the Rangers. Atkins provided the scoring punch for the Rangers in what was a slugfest in the first quarter. Junior point guard and Hofstra-commit Chaz Williams got Juice out and running on their way to a 24-18 lead at the first quarter horn.

The Rangers would slow the game down in the second quarter, as they likely knew that they couldn't run with the deep and talented Brooklyn-based team. Lincoln seniors Khalif Staten and Justin Greene provided a balanced scoring attack for Juice, as each would score 8 points in the opening half for coach Morton's squad. Led by Williams, Staten and Greene, Juice would hold a 39-30 lead at halftime. The guard Atkins led the way for the Rangers with 9 points in the opening half, while Andre Armstrong chipped in with 7 points.

Atkins took over as the third quarter began, as the Rangers made a run to cut the Juice lead. A runner by Atkins with just over 5 minutes to play in the third quarter cut the margin to 47-44. However, that was as close as the Rangers would come, as Juice would turn the intensity back up and regain momentum. The forward Greene, who is being recruited by a number of mid-major division one programs, as well as athletic Wadleigh forward Curtis Loving controlled the paint for Juice, on their way to a 59-52 lead at the end of the third quarter and a 85-74 regular season victory for Juice. Justin Greene led Juice with 20 points while Loving chipped in with 14-second half points. Manny Atkins led the Rangers in defeat with 25 points.
