Jefferson Boys High Dominates

BROOKLYN, NY - There were two games in the Tropical Fantasy Basketball Classic scheduled for Friday afternoon.

The games involved two of the teams that played in this past season's championship game. Runner-up for the city title, Jefferson tipped off against Bayside, while Boys & Girls faced JFK. Both games had a common theme… blow out.
Jefferson was just too much for Bayside to handle, and that was evident when you first glance at the 58-34 final score. Jefferson had a size advantage, despite not being taller than 6-5. They basically ran roughshod over the smaller Bayside squad.
They couldn't deal with 6-5 Kareem Johnakin (9 points) on the boards or 6-5 Jermoine Faison (8 points) everywhere else. Johnakin plays a little more physical, while Faison tries to gallop by you. It was a total team effort, with only one player getting double figures. That was sophomore Michael Watson with 10 points.
Boys & Girls was no match for JFK. Too big and too skilled to be contained by JFK, the game went almost exactly the way you expected. Boys dominated the game and won going away with a score of 60-34.
Boys & Girls guard Wesley Myers led all scorers with 17 points, hitting two threes in the second half during the game and just playing around.
The 6-2 junior had a total of 4 threes in the game, once again showing how consistently he can bury the deep jump shot. Courtney Solomon reached double figures with 12 points, in the scoring column.
The Jefferson game was close going into the half. But once the second half started, Jefferson put the pressure on Bayside and was able to pull way. Boys came out from the opening tip and controlled the game. IT was never close, so the intensity was barely noticeable.
As for the losers, they obviously didn't have their entire check out before the final buzzer. Nobody on Bayside or JFK scored in double figures.
