2009 Jordan Brand Classic Regional Team Announcement
Top New York City area prep stars to take the court at The Garden on April 18th

NEW YORK, NY – Jordan Brand, a division of NIKE, Inc., announced today the rosters for the Jordan Brand Classic Regional Game which will be a part of the Jordan Brand Classic, presented by Foot Locker, at Madison Square Garden on Saturday, April 18th. The game will feature the top prep players from the New York City metropolitan area in a City vs. Suburbs showdown with a portion of the proceeds of the event to once again benefit the New York-based charity, Children's Aid Society.
Heading to many of the top college programs in the northeast – including St. Johns, Pittsburgh, Syracuse, West Virginia, Rutgers, Maryland, Siena, Xavier, Hofstra, Robert Morris, George Mason, Fordham and Rice – the players represent one of the most talented classes in the history of the Regional Game.
The City Team will include OD Anosike (St. Peter's/Staten Island, NY), Dan Jennings (St. Thomas More/Oakdale, CT), Sean Johnson (Christ the King/Middle Village, NY), Omari Lawrence (South Kent/South Kent, CT), James Padgett (Abraham Lincoln/Brooklyn, NY), Kevin Parrom (South Kent/South Kent, CT), Russ Smith (Archbishop Molloy/Briarwood, NY), Keith Spellman (Thomas Jefferson/Brooklyn, NY), James Stukes (Rice/New York, NY) and Chaz Williams (Bishop Ford Central Catholic/Brooklyn, NY).
The Suburban Team will feature Karon Abraham (Eastside/Paterson, NJ), Tevin Baskin (Trinity Catholic/Stamford, CT), Paris Bennett (St. Patrick/Elizabeth, NJ), Lance Brown (Paterson Catholic/Paterson, NJ), Tamir Jackson (St. Benedict's/Newark, NJ), Austin Johnson (Blair Academy/Blairstown, NJ), Dane Miller (Rush-Henrietta/Henrietta, NY), Lamar Patterson (St. Benedict's/Newark, NJ), Brandon Triche (Jamesville-DeWitt/DeWitt, NY) and Sherrod Wright (Mount Vernon/Mount Vernon, NY).
The City Team will be coached by Rudy King (Bishop Loughlin High School/Brooklyn, NY) and Lawrence Pollard (Thomas Jefferson High School/Brooklyn, NY) while the Suburban Team will be have Damon Wright (Paterson Catholic High School/Paterson, NJ) and Geoffrey Billet (Christian Brothers Academy/Lincroft, NJ) on the bench.
Sponsored by Jordan Brand, the event is also annually attended by some of sport and entertainment's biggest stars, who have in the past included Michael Jordan, Spike Lee, LL Cool J, Warren Sapp, Terrell Owens, Floyd Mayweather, Kanye West, Fat Joe, Ludacris, and Vince Carter.
This year's event tripleheader will begin with an International Game at 3:30 p.m. EST followed by the Regional Game at 5:30 p.m. EST, and the All-American Game at 8:00 p.m. EST
The International Game will feature the top 15-16 year old players from around the world, including 10 European players, who were recently selected at a Jordan Brand training camp in Vilnius, Lithuania held March 7-8.
The All-American Game of the Jordan Brand Classic will include the top 24 players in the country including top-five ranked ESPNU 100 prospects Xavier Henry (Oklahoma City, OK/Memphis), Derrick Favors (Atlanta, GA/Georgia Tech), John Henson (Tampa, FL/North Carolina), DeMarcus Cousins (Mobile, AL/Memphis) and Renardo Sidney (Los Angeles, CA/USC).
Jordan Brand Classic alumni include NBA stars Chris Paul, Carmelo Anthony, LeBron James, Amar'e Stoudemire, Dwight Howard and Kevin Durant as well as current NCAA standouts Tyler Hansbrough (North Carolina), Blake Griffin (Oklahoma), Tyreke Evans(Memphis), Wayne Ellington (North Carolina) and Samardo Samuels (Louisville).
