During the Thanksgiving Classic, the John F. Kennedy Knights got their ball rolling against the Beach Channel Dolphins and this one was over almost before it began.
Treys by David Hardy and 6'5" junior Terry Larrier quickly put the Knights out in front. J.F.K. never looked back on their way to an 81-64 win.
Down 22-7 going into the second quarter, the Dolphins received an offensive boost from Jose Castro. That would not be enough as 6'6" sophomore Bashir Ahmed would keep the momentum on J.F.K.'s side as the Knights led at the half, 39-26.
6'4" senior Ismail Abdullah provided buckets for the Dolphins but Ahmed continued to score prolifically in the third quarter, giving Kennedy a 25 point lead going into the final quarter.
Comfortably ahead, head coach Johnny Mathis took his foot off the Dolphin's neck, experimenting with different line-ups and giving his bench some run. The Knights would coast to a 1-0 record
Ahmed would capture the MVP scoring a game high 28 points. Larrier added 16 points and Hardy contributed 11 points. Abdullah was high man for Beach Channel with 21 points and Semaj Smith added 13 points.
