Hoophall Classic Teams Unveiled

SPRINGFIELD, MA - The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame announced the high school teams today for its 10th annual Spalding Hoophall Classic, presented by Big Y World Class Markets, to be held at Springfield College's Blake Arena from January 14-17 during Martin Luther King, Jr. weekend.
The nation's premier high school event will showcase its strongest field in its history with elite matchups including Dallas Lincoln High School (Dallas, TX) vs. Findlay College Prep (Henderson, NV), Oak Hill Academy (Mouth of Wilson, VA) vs. Milton High School (Milton, GA) and St. Patrick High School (Elizabeth, NJ) vs. Bishop Gorman High School (Las Vegas, NV).

Numerous games from the 2011 Spalding Hoophall Classic will be televised nationally. Information on these broadcasts will be available shortly.
Other legendary programs scheduled to participate include DeMatha Catholic High School (Hyattsville, MD), Christ the King High School (Middle Village, NY), St. Thomas More School (Oakdale, CT) and St. Anthony High School (Jersey City, NJ), coached by Bob Hurley, Sr., who was recently inducted in to the Hall of Fame in August.
"When we started the Hoophall Classic 10 years ago, we could never have dreamed that it would turn into such a true celebration of high school basketball with a number of elite programs and players coming to Springfield," said John L. Doleva, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.
Recent alumni from the Spalding Hoophall Classic have included 43 McDonald's All Americans and 34 Jordan Brand Classic All-Americans since 2007. The class of 2010 was highlighted by Jared Sullinger (Ohio State), Kyrie Irving (Duke), Tobias Harris (Tennessee), Cory Joseph (Texas) and Brandon Knight (Kentucky). Further, 13 alumni from the Spalding Hoophall Classic were selected in the 2010 NBA Draft this past June including lottery picks Derrick Favors (New Jersey), DeMarcus Cousins (Sacramento), Al-Farouq Aminu (Los Angeles Clippers), Xavier Henry (Memphis) and Ed Davis (Toronto).
The 2011 event continues its tradition of talented players by featuring more than 20 of the ESPNU's Top 100 in the class of 2011, including top 10 stars Mike Gilchrist (St. Patrick's/Elizabeth, NJ), Quincy Miller (Westchester Country Day School/High Point), Myck Kabongo (Findlay Prep/Hendersonville, NV), Anthony Davis (Perspectives/Chicago, IL), LeBryan Nash (Lincoln/Dallas, TX) as well as top juniors Andre Drummond (St. Thomas More School/Oakdale, CT), Shabazz Muhammad (Bishop Gorman/Las Vegas, NV) and DaJuan Coleman (Jamesville-DeWitt/Syracuse, NY).
"Spalding is proud to partner with the Basketball Hall of Fame to support the Hoophall Classic, both of which epitomize the elite level of basketball that our brand strives for," said Spalding representative, Gary Barfield. "And as fans of the game, we look forward to four days of the best basketball in the country."
In addition to the game, Spalding also sponsors the Spalding Skills Challenge. The Skills Challenge features three events including the Spalding Half-Court Hustle, Spalding 3-Point Shootout and the Spalding Slam Dunk Contest at Blake Arena on Sunday, January 16th. An associated youth tournament, Junior Hoophall Classic, will return this year with details located at www.basketbull.org.
