Girls: Wright is a difference maker

When teams go up against Bishop Kearney they get it from all angles as the Kings are one of the deepest and most talented teams in New York State this season, and a big part of their success up in the Section 5 Rochester region this season has been the play of 5'8" guard Camille Wright '21.

During the early of part, the season the Kings weren't near full strength with several players out due to injury. That's when Wright showed exactly what she was made of leading Bishop Kearney to a nearly flawless record through the first month and change of the season.

There was a lot that Wright proved she could do as she was an all-around weapon doing a little bit of everything on the floor, but what Bishop Kearney head coach Kevan Sheppard said stands out most is Wright's playmaking abilities.

"Camille can draw a double team with the ball in her hands and once that happens there is no doubt that she will find the open man," Sheppard explained.

It's been a breakout season for Wright as she has not only seen her game grow as a key part to the Kings success as they have a 17-3 record and are among the favorites for the NYSPHAA Class AA title with Wright now earning interest from the likes of Eastern Michigan, Delaware, and Binghamton off of her strong play.

Playing on or off the ball, Wright is someone who Sheppard is confident in regardless of where she fits on the floor. She is as versatile as they come as she can score attacking the rim just as well as anyone, but as her head coach says don't be surprised when she does a bit of everything else as well as there are few her feels as dynamic and talented in Rochester right now as Wright.

"She is definitely a slasher for sure but don't be fooled because Camille can shoot it too," Sheppard stated. "There really isn't much to me that she can do and she's only going to get better."
