On May 29th Frenji Sports will host its 5th Annual Frankie Williams Charity Classic at the Theodore D. Young Community Center located in Greenburgh, NY.
The event will showcase the best boy's high school basketball players from New York City, Westchester, New Jersey and Connecticut. The event's purpose is to raise financial support for academic and athletic youth programs at TDYCC as well as provide the youth of the area with positive examples of student-athletes who are chasing their dreams the right way. Frankie Williams was an integral part of the Greenburgh community as well as TDYCC prior to his passing away almost 8 years ago and we feel it is only right that we honor him every year with a showcase event in his name and what he stood for.
Some of the players committed to playing in FWCC 2014 are Isaiah Whitehead (Lincoln/ Seton Hall), Khadeen Carrington (Bishop Loughlin/ Seton Hall), Eric Paschall (Dobbs Ferry/STM/ Fordham), Kevin Degnan (Pearl River/ Fairfield), Shavar Newkirk (Cardinal Hayes/ St. Joe's), Terry Larrier (Phelps School/ VCU), Angel Delgado (Patrick School/ Seton Hall), Donovan Mitchell (Brewster Academy/ Top 100 Class of 2015), Matt Ryan (Iona Prep/ Top 100 Class of 2015), Adonis DeLaRosa (Christ The King/ St. John's), Rawle Alkins (Christ The King/ Top 25 Class of 2016), locals Mike DeMello (White Plains/ Pace U.) and Max Twyman (Rye/ Brewster Academy/ U of Albany) as well as many other elite level players. "The talent sharing the court in the Frankie Williams Charity Classic at the Theodore D. Young Community Center trumped any CYP, Senior All-Star Game or other charity event I've ever attended. And not only were there big names, the game itself was awesome." Kevin Devaney, formerly of The Journal News, of the Inaugural FWCC 2008 Game.
