Easy Win for Loughlin vs Trenton Catholic

TRENTON, NJ- This was no CHSAA league game for Bishop Loughlin, as they faced off against Trenton Catholic, a New Jersey school that didn't sport the talent that Brooklyn's Loughlin has.
The talent gap showed, as Loughlin was able to cruise to a 72-48 victory on Sunday afternoon at the Primetime Shootout.

The Lions were able to dominate early thanks to the strong guard play of blue-chip sophomore Doron Lamb and strong senior guard James Johnson, who is headed to Quinnipiac next season. The CHSAA School was able to grab a 17-7 lead after the first quarter thanks to a strong zone defense played by Coach Khalid Green's squad.
The onslaught continued into the second session, as James Johnson was able to balloon the Bishop Loughlin lead to 23-12 after an acrobatic lay-up in transition with 4:25 to play in the first half.
6'4" sophomore Markeese Tucker led the New Jersey school throughout his team's unsuccessful first half and game by knocking down jump shots and holding his own against the high-major prospect Lamb. The Lions went into halftime with a 29-16 lead at the half, with Lamb leading the way with 19 points in the first sixteen minutes of game action.
Despite being in control, Coach Green kept his own team in their toes by switching defenses between a zone and man-to-man. A jump shot from sophomore forward Jayvaughn Pinkston gave Loughlin a 35-18 lead with just over six minutes to play in the third quarter. The Brooklyn squad would not relent, as they continued to play aggressive defense and run the floor wherever and whenever the opportunities presented themselves. A Devon Elliott lay-up at the third quarter buzzer gave Bishop Loughlin a 52-33 lead heading into the final session.
After a final scrappy four-minute push from his starting line-up, Loughlin coach Khalid Green put in his reserves to finish off what was a 72-48 win for the catholic school. Doron Lamb won the game MVP award after finishing with 28 points, while senior James Johnson chipped in with 10 points for Loughlin. Markeese Tucker led the way for Trenton Catholic in the losing effort with 19 points.
