East beats West as Holy Cross Advances

Virginia-bound Sylven Landesberg poured in a game high 31 points as The Holy Cross Knights advanced to the semifinals of the City of Palms Classic in Florida by defeating Woodland Hills Taft of California 66 – 59 on Thursday.
The game was close for the first quarter as Woodland Hills guard, Larry Drew led the attack. Cross managed to end the quarter with a 14 – 11 lead.
In the second quarter, Holy Cross guard, Blaise Ffrench along with Landesberg knocked down key buckets to give the Knights a 29 – 24 lead going into the third quarter.
In the third quarter, Woodland Hills went on a run and even gained the lead on Holy Cross, outscoring them 20 – 11 however; poor field goal percentages plagued the California team. That, along with not being able to contain Holy Cross' shooters ultimately led to their demise.
High scorers for Holy Cross were Landesberg with 31 points followed by Ffrench with 12 points and Kayvon Roberts with 11 points. Drew led Woodland Hills Taft with 18 points.
Holy Cross remains undefeated in the tournament as well as during the season with a 4 – 0 record.
