Coach Tiny Morton responds to potential NCAA violations

Explosive documents obtained in discovery during a federal investigation, and viewed by Yahoo Sports, detailed payments made by former NBA agent Andy Miller and his agency, ASM Sports. According to the documents, payments were made to high profile college players, coaches as well Adidas grassroots basketball directors.

Abraham Lincoln high school head coach and former Seton Hall assistant coach Dwayne “Tiny” Morton’s name was included in those documents alleging that he was paid $9500. One blog went so far as to state that Morton was on Miller’s payroll.

Coach Morton contacted NYCHoops.net exclusively on Monday issuing a statement addressing those allegations and his association with grassroots basketball.

“I stepped down as Juice ALLSTARS director in February 2014. The Yahoo reports are false about me receiving payments from Andy Miller! Furthermore, my relationship with Andy MIller began and ended with [former Lincoln HS star and NBA player] Sebastian Telfair.

As you are probably aware, [former Lincoln HS star and current NBA star Lance] Stephenson never entertained Andy Miller and I expressed to [former Lincoln, Seton Hall and current NBA player Isaiah] Whitehead’s parent that Jeff Swartz would be a better option!

I believe there is a misconception regarding me receiving any sort of monetary gains from NBA players or anyone else. As I have stated many times before, I never received a dime from anyone outside of my day job!”
