City Legendz Invtl Finale

BRONX, NY - The final day of the 3rd Annual City Legendz Invitational would have the Gauchos Gym rockin' on Sunday. NYCHoops.net witnessed three of the four match-ups along with Top colleges such as Villanova, Georgetown, St. John's, Niagara, Wagner, Hofstra and Fairfield.
HS of Construction Breaks Down T.M.A., 80-60

Without the services of Amarveer Singh, who was out due to disciplinary issues, it would be HS of Construction versus Thurgood Marshall's 6'7" junior Brian Aussie (8 points) for the majority of the opening quarter. Sophomore Jalin Suber pitched in late but the Red Hawks had already amassed a 9 point lead to begin the second quarter.
HS of Construction Lead 39-24 at the half and grew to 22 points with 3 minutes left to play.
T.M.A. was never really in the game as Red Hawks clinched their 11th win in a row.
Justin Wright-Foreman paced Construction with 24 points. Tahleek Weekes added 15 points. Suber scored a game high 25 points for T.M.A.
McDuffie Buffs Off Robinson School, 57-56
Omari Spellman did work in the post along with blocks on defensive for McDuffie as did 7'0" Jordy Tshimanga who was raw but effective inside. Robinson trailed early but PG Tory Ferguson tied the game at 14. The speedy guard soon gave Robinson its first lead as he fed Maine bound trailer Devine Eke for the dunk and the, 16-14 advantage to end the warm-up quarter.
The game remained tight but midway through the second quarter, Bradley Calipari came in an immediately drained a three to put McDuffie up 23-16 to the delight of father and UK head coach John Calipari who was cheering him on from the stands.
A dunk by Unique McLean and McDuffie was soon up 10 points. Lamontray Harris provided some offense for the Robinson School but McDuffie leads 28-25 at half.
The lead changed hands as Spellman, Ferguson scored. Robinson led 43-39 after three quarters.
Calipari re-entered at the top of the fourth and like déjà vu drained another trey bomb. The Robinson School countered and scored as Joe Zayer caught fire. Harris gave Robinson 1 point lead but with 5:30, Spellman fouled Zayer attempting a three and Robinsons lead grew to 50-46.
With 1:05 the game was tied at 53. Eke missed two Free-throws. PG Carlos Gonzalez takes Ferguson off the dribble but Ferguson counters with a feed to Safee Subur for a trey. 56-55 Robinson led 56-55 with 7 seconds. Calipari subbed in as a offensive decoy allowing McLean to hit a runner with 1.8 seconds putting the win in McDuffie's hands.
Spellman led McDuffie with 14 points with McLean adding 11 points. Harris was hih man for Robinson with 12 points.
Wings Academy demolishes Westinghouse, 70-45
Georgetown-bound Jessie Govan dominated early for Wings Academy but Westinghouse creeped back into the game 6'6" Justin Bogle knotted game at 8 with a teardrop. Govan had reinforcement in Hofstra bound PG Desure Buie and rising sophomore Boubacar Kamissoko. With 1:30 Wings reasserted their superiority and led 18-9 after one quarter
Things began to unravel in the second quarter for Westinghouse trailed by 11 early. Govan did a good job protecting the paint.
Junior Gerald Williams finally got a bucket for Westinghouse at the 6 minute mark as they began attacking the basket. Foul trouble soon forced Govan on the bench. With 4:57, Jaheem Page got to the line and cut Wings lead to 20-16. Turnover allows Westinghouse to tie the game at 20 as Bogle and Sheldon Gayle scored.
At the 2 minute mark the game was tied again at 24 but a drives by William Martinez and senior guard Randy Corporan pushed wings ahead 31-26 at the half.
Page and Arsheen Jones tied the game at 33 but Govan quickly put Wings back on top. With 2 minutes Wings was back up by six and led 47-37 wings after three quarters
Govan permanently altered the momentum as he went coast to coast for the dunk and Wings Academy would never look back as their swoll to 19 points with 3:05.
Govan scored 24 points to go with 15 rebounds & 4 blocked shots.
