Mount Vernon HS head coach, Bob Cimmino, received one of the highest coaching honors and earned a place in history with his induction into the Hall of Fame.
Cimmino has coached Mount Vernon HS for the past 17 years and has won 4 State Federation Championships, 5 NYSPHSAA crowns, and is on course to a 400 win career. After Saturday's Semi-Final win over CBA at Glenn Falls, Cimmino and his Knights will continue to chase history.
The Mount Vernon Knights (22-2) defeated Section 2 CBA (21-3), 68-42. Senior Randy Stephens led the Knights with 19 points and 7 rebounds; senior Jarrel Marshall finished 18 points and 8 rebounds; Isaiah Cousins delivered 6 points, 7 assists and 3 steals; Qwadere Lovell added 9 points and Josh Doughty contributed 7.
The Knights advanced to their 13th state championship game in program history and won their 10th state championship during Sunday's NY State Title Final versus Aquinas.
Mt. Vernon returns to the NYS Federation TOC to defend their championship.
