Cardozo Outlast Wings Academy, 58-56
Players from the PSAL City champion Benjamin Cardozo Judges and Bronx champs Wings Academy flexed their muscles in a hard fought game from beginning to end. Dozo held an edge throughout the first half, buoyed surprisingly by the point guard skills of Rashond Salnave. The outstanding long ball shooter decided to display his versatility as a facilitator and Cardozo led 29-22 at the end of two quarters of play.
Wings would soon close the gap as rising senior point guard 5'10" Randy Corporan bedazzled with clever assists that would've made State Farm proud. Often times the recipient of those assists was 6'1" Ephraim Hernandez who did a good job finishing strong at the rim.
As the final quarter began, the defending City champs held on to a mere 1 point advantage. Salnave would unleash a fourth quarter aerial attack while teammates Amir Tutt and Elijah McNeely aggressively assaulted the basket. Both teams made defensive stands as well but when the dust settled, the Judges prevailed.
Salnave paced Cardozo with 18 points while Hernandez led Wings with 15 points.
