2017 Nominees for Mr. & Ms. New York Basketball

Each year New York State boy and girl Class of 2017 student-athletes are nominated for the title of the Basketball Coaches Association of New York's coveted Mr. and Ms. NY Basketball. The finalists, are voted on by members of BCANY and will be announced the week before the the Federation State Tournament of Champions. Here are the nominees:

Jose Alvarado, Christ the King, Christ the King HS, Middle Village, NY

* Times Ledger -Queens Player of the Year

* MSG Varsity 1st team All Tri-State and 1st Team All City

* Volunteer worker and speaker at youth basketball camp

Elijah Buchanan, Mount St. Michael, Bronx

* 20.7 career points per game, 24 ppg this season,

* 2nd team CHSAA “AA” 2015-16

* MVP Elmira Holiday Classic
