We recently covered all the activities and transfers in New York City. The portal has been crazy so far and it just got even crazier.

Lawrence Woodmere Academy added a second national team that will be coached by NYS Hall of Fame Basketball Coaches Association head coach Dwayne "Tiny" Morton. Morton coached 19 seasons at PSAL powerhouse Abraham Lincoln HS in Brooklyn, NY. Coach Morton led the Railsplitters to eight city championships and three Federation titles. He is shaking up the state once more bringing in some heavy hitters at LWA.

We just received word that 6’1” PG Anderson Diaz (St. Raymond HS, NY 27) is headed to Woodmere next season. Diaz is ranked No. 32 in Rivals Class of 2027 and is already a 5-star. He was dominant during his first year in the CHSAA and is arguably the best long-term prospect in the area. His upside is off the charts, he’s still just scratching the surface of his potential and we can’t wait to see what his new coach can get out of him. This is huge news for Woodmere as they grab the most sought-after player in NYC.

The Lawrence Woodmere program isn’t just adding Diaz and the few guys that have been mentioned in the roundup we also heard they have even more star power. They have also added CHSAA standout 6’2” PG Kaleb Popotte (Monsignor Scanlan HS, NY ’25) who was one of the projected players returning to the Catholic League. Popotte is another terrific guard from NYC they bring in who adds experience, great depth in the backcourt, more scoring, and a true D1 prospect. He should thrive in his new opportunity once he gets comfortable in the new situation and system.

Lawrence Woodmere is a program on the rise and looking to make serious headway next season. They have added some monsters and still might not be done yet. We look forward to seeing what kind of roster Coach Morton can build plus we are expecting a massive schedule. Stay tuned Tigers fans things are trending up.
