Youth Basketball Leaders Create New Organization

LAS VEGAS , NV - Key members of the youth basketball community met Saturday (September 19th) to establish a new, national non-profit organization, Youth Basketball 21 (YB21.org), to deal with the various issues and challenges facing non-scholastic basketball.

This initial group of 22 top youth basketball event operators, travel program directors and club coaches from both the boy's and girl's sides gathered in Las Vegas for this historic first-time meeting of key members from the entire non-scholastic landscape. The group discussed the various complaints and issues surrounding non-scholastic basketball ranging from coaching certification, event operations, training, skill development, mentoring and competition/event standards.
"This new organization (Youth Basketball 21) was created to let the basketball community know that youth basketball can provide information and opportunity in a responsible, organized manner," said Mike Flynn from Blue Star who was elected as the President of the group. "We will address the misconceptions that youth basketball can not organize and monitor itself. This is done being a dream for our sport, it is now a movement."
