The action packed event was webcasted live from St. John's University by The High School Basketball Network.
In the first game featured Thomas Jefferson Campus of Brooklyn, NY and John F. Kennedy High School of Bronx, NY. The Jefferson Orange Wave featured sophomore sensation Davontay Grace and Fordham-bound Joel Wright while the upstart J.F.K. Knights featured the guard tandem of Naquan Pierce and Jeffrey Arzu. The Knights are coached by the legendary Johnnie Mathis.
In the second game, Abraham Lincoln High School battled against their nemesis Boys & Girls High School. Both teams are from Brooklyn, NY and their long term rivalry is the stuff of legends.
The Lincoln Railsplitters badly wanted to make it to the championship game in order to make history as the only Public School to win four PSAL championships. If they beat Boys & Girls, their senior trio of Lance Stephenson, James Padgett and Darwin "Buddah" Ellis would've participated in 3 of the 4 championships. For Lincoln Coach Dwayne "Tiny" Morton it would be his 7th championship
The Boys & Girls Kangaroos had other plans as the team coached by Ruth Lovelace sought to get the monkey off their back and finally defeat the Railsplitters in the playoffs. Led by Mike Taylor, Lamount Samuell and Anton Dickerson, the Kangaroos would fight tooth and nail during this semifinal match-up.
