On Friday, the Gauchos came out to do battle, seeking their chance to advance into the championship round of Port Chester's C.Y.P. Tournament.

The New Jersey Roadrunners, however, had other plans, cutting them off in a thrilling overtime, 90-85, victory.
From the onset, the Gauchos came out to ball, exchanging leads throughout the opening quarter of the game but the Roadrunners maintained a 18-16 lead with a minute and half remaining. Kelvin Amayo made a jumper from off the corner and Maurice Harkless followed with a two handed jam as the Gauchos regained a 22-16 lead. Kyrie Irving inched the Roadrunners closer to the Gauchos lead with a jumper as the clock ticked down but the Gauchos led 22-20 at the close of the first quarter.
The Gauchos stayed on top throughout the second quarter, maintaining their lead again with a minute and half left in play. Alex Rosenberg would close this quarter strong for the Roadrunners scoring the final lay-up at the buzzer, reducing the Gauchos lead to 39-35 at the half.
The Gauchos retained their lead throughout the third quarter, holding off the Roadrunners who chased their lead down to 54-56 as the fourth quarter began.
In the fourth quarter, the score tied up 58-58 with seven and half minutes in play. A foul is called on the Gauchos and Irving would go 1 for 2 from the charity stripe, then later drive in the lane for two more giving the Roadrunners their first lead 61-58.
A foul is called on the Roadrunners and the Gauchos scored two at the line, making it a one point advantage to the Gauchos but Irving would soon tie the score at 65-65. Tauron Bailey then tips two in pushing the Gauchos ahead but once again, Irving would score to knot the score at 67-67.
Eli Carter hits would hit a floater, giving Roadrunners a 69-67 lead as time wound down. Bailey then drives in to score a basket and knotting the score 69-69. As the clock winds down both teams battle towards the finish line but Harkless would score a lay-up, tying up the score 73-73 and sending the game into overtime.
The officials would put four minutes back on the clock as the battle ensued. With a minute remaining in OT, Harkless fought inside the paint to score two and the Gauchos are now up 83-82. Gaucho PG Shane Southwell would get hit with his fifth foul sending him to the bench while Bracey scored one at the line. A full time out is called by the Roadrunners and Irving would quickly score a bucket, on the return the Roadrunners lead 86-85. The Gauchos would receive two more foul calls in the closing minutes, giving the Roadrunners easy buckets at the line on their road to victory 90-85.
Roadrunners Kyrie Irving finished with an impressive game high of 36 points and Eli Carter tallied 27 points. Gauchos Maurice Harkless led for his team with 29 points and Kelvin Amayo contributed 23 points.
