NEW YORK, NY - In the competitive world of high school basketball recruitment, the window of opportunity is quite small. Today, a student-athlete is a freshman and by tomorrow they’re already a senior.

“I can’t tell you how many good players squander the opportunity to get a college scholarship,” said Maurice Wingate publisher of NYCHoops.net. “Many of the kids I see are good enough to get a free-ride to college but don’t know how to put their best foot forward and take advantage of the AAU season especially during live periods when College coaches are checking them out.”

Oftentimes, parents and/or AAU Programs spend a small fortune sending student-athletes to Live Period events over the spring/summer in hopes of obtaining college scholarship offers only to come back empty handed.

THE AAU/TRAVEL SEASON & LIVE PERIODS ARE COMING FAST.

As publisher of two of the Northeast’s most widely read Rivals.com sites, Mr. Wingate sees and evaluates thousands of players per season all over the nation. “I get calls and text messages every day from D-I, II and III College coaches asking for player recommendations or evaluations but most of the players I see are doing the exact opposite of what they need to be showcasing to get noticed by College Coaches or by scouts like myself. Everybody thinks it’s all about how many points they score. It’s not.”

Most student-athletes are unaware how to present themselves on and off the court according to Wingate. “Many good players have no college interest. Other players have college interest but don’t know what to do to turn that interest into a tangible offer or offers. Then there are those who have one or two offers but don’t know how to increase the amount or caliber of the offers they have.”

To help student-athletes before the upcoming and all important AAU/Travel season begins, NYCHoops.net, the leading recruiting source for college coaches and the official New York State site of Rivals.com, will be giving two, one-day NYCHoops.net Recruiting Boot Camps at SUSA Sports Academy in Hauppauge, NY.

What could you have done better?
What could you have done better?

Rob Pavinelli, former HS school coach, analyst and current athletic director of SUSA, says this type of boot camp is long overdue saying, “It will improve your stock as a recruitable basketball player in every facet. You will learn what your game needs and how to get in front of the right people.”

The NYCHoops.net Recruiting Boot Camps will be from 9 AM – 3 PM on Saturday March 25th for high school boys and Sunday March 26th for high school girls. To make sure each student-athlete gets maximum individualized attention, each Recruiting Boot Camp will be limited to 60 players. The day will consist of scrimmages, evaluations, weakness improvement drills as well as Q&A seminars for parents and/or student athletes. Video tapes will be available and lunch will be provided.

The NYCHoops.net Recruiting Boot Camps has already confirmed the participation of some of the top ranked players in the state including:

**BOYS: Khalid Moore '18, Kofi Cockburn '19, Christian Hinckson '18, Tyson Walker '18 Kareem Reid '19, Zed Key '20
