Interesting games occurred on Friday and Saturday for New York teams at the Nike EYBL at the Boo Williams Complex in Hampton, VA. Here are some brief recaps from games with and between the PSA Cardinals , Albany City Rocks and NY Lightning.

The PSA Cardinals Win Versus The Travelers
Travis Atson's 14 points propelled the PSA Cardinals to a 59-42 victory over the Travelers on Friday.
With a 30-18 lead at the half, the PSA Cardinals pulled ahead early in the game.
The PSA Cardinal's Atson hit 5-for-7 (71%) shots from the floor.
Bryce Aiken sank two three-pointers and scored 10 points total. Three other players also scored in the double digits for the PSA Cardinals. Ty Jerome contributed 12 points and Kassoum Yakwe racked up 10 points. Also contributing for the PSA Cardinals were Unique McLean (6 points, 6 rebounds, 1 steal), James Scott (3 points, 3 rebounds), Omari Spellman (2 points, 1 rebound) and Christian Vital (2 points, 1 rebound).
The PSA Cardinals finished the game with 41 rebounds (11 offensive/30 defensive), five blocks and three steals.
NY Lightning Falls Short Against The City Rocks
NY Lightning fell to the City Rocks on Saturday, 75-73, even with Asante Gist scoring 19 points.
Although they scored a game-high 30 points during the first quarter, NY Lightning trailed early, losing 33-30 by the half. NY Lightning scored 30 points on the strength of a 9-4 run, getting the first quarter off to a great start.
Gist led NY Lightning's offense, going 6-for-10 (60%) from the field while also sinking 83% (5-for-6) of free throws attempted.
Shamorie Ponds put two three-pointers on the board and scored 16 points total. Two other players also racked up double digit scores for NY Lightning. Elijah Pemberton added 13 points. Also helping the effort for NY Lightning were Andrew Garcia (9 points, 2 rebounds), Aaron Walker (5 points, 2 rebounds, 2 steals), Dimencio Vaughn (4 points, 1 rebound, 2 steals), Rodney Miller (3 points, 5 rebounds, 1 steal, 2 blocks), Caheim Brown (2 points, 4 rebounds) and Jordan Tucker (2 points, 2 rebounds, 1 steal). Ponds was a big defensive contributor as well, racking up six rebounds, four steals and one block.
NY Lightning finished the game with 35 rebounds (10 offensive/25 defensive), three blocks and 16 steals.
SATURDAY
NY Lightning Defeats The St. Louis Eagles
Dimencio Vaughn scored 22 points to lead NY Lightning to a 78-67 victory over the St. Louis Eagles on Saturday.
NY Lightning pulled ahead early, claiming a 41-34 lead at the half. Both teams played aggressive games, with NY Lightning picking up 23 fouls while the St. Louis Eagles had 23.
Vaughn attacked the net right off the bat for NY Lightning, scoring 15 points in the first half.
Shamorie Ponds (22 points) and Jordan Tucker (8) each had multiple three-pointers. Also chipping in for NY Lightning were Andrew Garcia (8 points, 3 rebounds, 1 steal), Rodney Miller (6 points, 9 rebounds, 3 blocks), Elijah Pemberton (6 points, 3 rebounds, 1 steal) and Asante Gist (6 points, 1 steal).
NY Lightning finished the game with 37 rebounds (14 offensive/23 defensive), six blocks and 10 steals.
The City Rocks Win Versus The PSA Cardinals
Howard Washington scored 22 points to bring the City Rocks to a 69-61 victory over the PSA Cardinals on Saturday.
The PSA Cardinals played better during the second half, but not enough to reverse the early point surge of the City Rocks.
With a shooting percentage of 75% (6-for-8), Washington had a great game from the field, also making 80% (4-for-5) of threes attempted. He was also strong from the line, sinking 75% (6-for-8) of free throws attempted.
Andrew Platek (16 points) and Kevin Huerter (14) each sunk multiple three-pointers. Also helping the effort for the City Rocks were Anthony Gaines (6 points, 6 rebounds, 1 steal, 2 blocks), Arnaldo Torro (3 points, 4 rebounds, 1 block), Anthony Lamb (3 points, 5 rebounds, 1 steal, 3 blocks) and Stafford Trueheart (2 points, 1 rebound, 1 block).
The City Rocks finished the game with 36 rebounds (11 offensive/25 defensive), seven blocks and three steals.

Both teams went toe-to-toe on Saturday, with the PSA Cardinals outlasting NJ Playaz 69-66.
The PSA Cardinals separated themselves during the final two quarters of the game, after being tied at the half with NJ Playaz at 31-31.
Omari Spellman wasted no time putting points on the board for the PSA Cardinals, scoring 14 in the first half.
Two other players also racked up double digit scores for the PSA Cardinals. Kassoum Yakwe added 15 points and Ty Jerome contributed 13 points. Also helping the effort for the PSA Cardinals were Christian Vital (8 points, 7 rebounds), Bryce Aiken (6 points, 1 rebound), James Scott (5 points) and Unique McLean (2 points, 3 rebounds). Yakwe was a big defensive contributor as well, racking up 10 rebounds, two steals and four blocks.
