SOUTH JAMAICA, NY – The championship game of the iS8/Nike Fall Tip-Off Classic featured two all-star teams, one from New Jersey and the other from New York. Trail for the entire game, the Shooting Stars fell on hard times in the third quarter only to get trounced in the fourth quarter, 106-76.

The intensity was at a fever pitch as the game began but diminutive guard Jaquaye James (Teaneck HS ’18) let loose with back to back three-balls setting the stage as NE Basketball Club surged ahead 8-2. Tyson Walker (Christ the King ’19) tried to even the score. The two guards went at each other drawing harsh warning from the ref.

With Kofi Cockburn (Christ the King ’19) banging inside, Dallas Watson (St. Raymond’s ’18) and Walker tied the game at 18 point at the 3:23 mark. The duo of Quinerly and James proved to be formidable pushing the Shooting Stars down by 7 points to end the opening quarter.

Watson and Khalid Moore (Molloy ’18) were assertive on offense and kept the Shooting Stars in the hunt Luther Muhammad (Hudson Catholic ’18) and James still managed to extend NE B’Ball Club’s lead to double digits. The Shooting Stars sliced into its deficit but each time, NE Basketball Club responded. At the half, the Jersey team was still ahead 56-46.

NE Northeast Basketball never let up even when the Shooting Stars had droughts as Quinerly, James and Jawan Daniels (Teaneck ’17) torched them. As a result, their lead grew to 21 points with 3:36 left to play.

Totally flustered, Shooting Stars Head Coach Kareem Memminger tried to stop the bleeding by calling a time-out. Unfortunately, the team was out of time-outs and picked up a technical foul. That sucked the remainder of life out of the Shooting Stars and NE B’Ball Club coasted to a 30-point crush.

Daniels paced the Northeast B’Ball Club with 28 points with guard Quinerly and James holding it down with 20 points and 24 points respectively. Walker led the Shooting Stars with 18 points.
