Long Island Lutheran celebrated signing day in style with three seniors joining D1 programs. At the same time, everyone enjoyed the moment they still had one left on the board 6’5” SG Kiyan Anthony (Long Island Lutheran HS, NY ‘25) who was down to his final two. He went to his father’s podcast at 7 PM in Brooklyn with his mother by his side and announced he would commit to Syracuse.
He broke down his development as a player and his journey to get to this moment. His father had him break down his mindset during the recruitment process and his transition to being one of the top players in the country. We got a chance to get to know the Anthony family on a personal level and see how close of a unit they are.
The LuHi senior basketball career began at Christ the King where he played freshmen ball and showed a ton of potential despite some outside noise. Anthony went to work, spent hours in the gym, and embraced the process. We fast forward to this spring where we saw the lanky shooter become a top 40 recruit and take off. His ability to produce in almost any environment possible led to a wild run of over 20 D1 offers.
We know everyone will say it always had to be Syracuse but that wasn’t the case as they truly explored several options. He originally trimmed his massive list to just Auburn, USC, and Cuse but it ultimately came down to just the Orange and the Trojans. This addition to the ACC powerhouse is huge as they look to complete their 2025 class. Anthony plus the addition of 6’8” F Sadiq White (IMG Academy, FL ‘25), 4-star Aaron Womack III (Dominican HS, WI ‘25), and 6’6” SG Luke Fennell (NBL Australia ‘25) is shaping up to a nice group.
This upcoming year we should see the best high school season for Anthony as he looks to cap off his career with a national title. He should be featured in the best backcourt in the country and will be a primary scorer for the Crusaders. We are excited for the Anthony family and understand the work and commitment it took to get to this point. Syracuse just got a game-changing prospect who could end up being the best guard in the entire class of 2025.
