Molloy Smashes Amityville, 93 -66; Brown cracks 1000 points
Josh Serrano ‘18 drained a three-pointer at the beginning of the game that gave the Amityville Warriors a 3 – 2 lead but that was the first and only lead the Long Island squad had over its Queens, NY opponent. After that, it was a complete Brown-Out as 7’2” Moses Brown ‘18 had his way, scoring dunks at will. Midway through the opening quarter Molloy went on a 12 – 0 run before Serrano managed to score Amityville’s second basket of the quarter.
With help from Cole Anthony ‘19 and Jade Tse ‘18, the Stanners held a substantial 16-point lead going into the second quarter. Although the offensive burden for Amityville rested primarily on Serrano’s shoulders, the senior guard did receive help from Myles Goddard ‘21 and Branden Tannis ‘18 to keep pace with Molloy’s output. Unable to get stops, Amityville still trailed 46 – 30 at the half.
The dunks by Brown continued relentlessly and midway through the third quarter, Amityville was in a 23-point sinkhole. Tyson Walker ‘18 and Quaran McPherson ‘20 led the charge early for Christ the King leading up to a 11 points advantage at the end of the warm up quarter. Tavin Pierre-Phillip ‘19 carried the Royals torch in the second quarter but St. Joe’s levied a collective push back as Tyree Ford ‘21, Luke Fresco ‘19, Howard McBurnie ‘19 and K-Shawn Schulters ‘20 drained three-pointers
