BROOKLYN, NY – When you’re hot, you’re hot and Larry Moreno ‘18 was hot. The senior point guard was so hot that even his heat-checks went in. Ten three-pointers later, when it was all said and done, Moreno’s fire from the arc led Brooklyn Law & Tech to a substantial, 79 – 54 win over a Chaminade in Sunday’s M.T.G Back2School Invitational championship.
The game began as a shootout with Pete Baron ‘19 and Brendan McGuire ‘19 scoring from three-point range for Chaminade, a school known for its perimeter shooting. With 14 minutes left in the opening quarter however, Moreno launched back-to-back contested threes that set the stage for the rest of the evening.
The senior guard proceeded to put on an aerial display that was an absolute stunner. Netting an amazing seven three-pointers in the first half alone, Moreno single-handedly outscored the entire Flyers’ squad scoring 30 first half points. Brooklyn Law & Tech led 43 – 24 as the second half began.
Moreno cooled off somewhat in the second half but Victor Ogbo ‘18 helped carry the offensive torch for the Brooklyn Class A powerhouse. That’s not to say the Moreno Airshow was over. The St. Francis College (Brooklyn)-bound senior notched three additional three-pointers in the second half en route to an astonishing 39-point evening and a 25-point win for Brooklyn Law & Tech over yet another Class "AA" team.
Ogbo was Brooklyn Law & Tech's second leading scorer with 17 points. Baron scored a team high 14 points for Chaminade with Liam Drennan ‘19 adding 9 points.
