The COVID-19 crisis may have actually flatlined the 2021 high school basketball this season. Currently, only two players from New York are ranked on the national stage and both are from the burbs.

In the #6 slot is Duke bound A.J. Griffin '21 who will play for Archbishop Stepinac H.S. in White Plains, NY. In the #137 spot is Georgetown commit Jordan Riley '21.

While there are only two New Yorkers listed nationally, there are quite a few that are more than eligible to be amongst the top 150 in the country. Players like recent Dayton commit Malachi Smith (St. Raymond '21) along with the uber-talented Jaquan Carlos (Jefferson '21).

The coronavirus nixed travel basketball and prevented many top players from being seen or heard of all summer. This makes a true representation of the true top 150 in the class of 2021, a guestimate at best.

Hopefully this too shall pass.
